  1. The PrintOMatic Lite Xtra

  5. Introduction

  8. The PrintOMatic Lite Xtra provides essential printing functionality for 
  9. Macromedia Director and Authorware 4. Its main purpose is to add a global print 
  10. handler to Lingo that will print just about anything, and a printStage handler 
  11. that easily prints the contents of the Stage.
  12.  
  13. You are free to use the unregistered version of PrintOMatic Lite royalty-free 
  14. in all your Director productions. However, if you register your copy of 
  15. PrintOMatic Lite for $50 U.S., you gain the ability to use the printStage 
  16. command in your projectors, and you also get unlimited technical support 
  17. for PrintOMatic Lite.

  19. This is only a brief "Read Me" file. The full documentation for PrintOMatic Lite
  20. can be printed from the demo movie -PMLITE.DIR, or viewed from the on-line help
  21. file available from the Director menu item  "Xtras -> PrintOMatic Lite ->

  25. Installing the PrintOMatic Lite Xtra 
  26. ------------------------------------

  28. Simply drag the entire PMLITE directory into Director's XTRAS directory, and 
  29. launch Director. The PMLITE directory should contain the following files:
  30.  
  31.     PMLITE.X32       The 32-bit version of the PrintOMatic Lite Xtra.
  32.     PMLITE.HLP       The PrintOMatic Lite Xtra's on-line help file. 
  33.     PMLITE.CNT       Table of Contents file for on-line help. 
  34.     -PMLITE.DIR      The PrintOMatic Lite demo movie.

  36. The only file that is essential in run-time projects is PMLITE.X32.
  37. If your project uses the PrintOMatic Lite Xtra, you MUST include
  38. this file in an XTRAS folder within the folder your projector is in. See the
  39. Director documentation for more information about Xtras and projector files.

  42. Using PrintOMatic Lite's On-Line Help 
  43. -------------------------------------

  45. An on-line help file has been provided as part of the PrintOMatic Lite
  46. installation. This help file can be used right alongside Director's own on-line
  47. help file as you work. To use the on-line help file:

  49.         Within Director, select the menu item "Xtras -> PrintOMatic Lite -> 
  50.         PrintOMatic Lite Help". This will open the PrintOMatic Lite Help file
  51.         using the Windows Help application.

  57. 1.5 First public release of the PrintOMatic Lite Xtra.

  59. 1.5.1 Fixed a bug in the global print handler that prevented it from working
  60. after the first time it was invoked.
  61.  
  62. 1.5.2 Made printPreview a global handler. Made internal changes to allow French,
  63. German and Japanese localization.

  65. 1.5.3 Added version numbers to the About box. Improved the Mac printer database
  66. to save the name of the print driver along with the settings. Fixed a bug in the
  67. Macintosh version that would print the wrong pages if a specific page rage was
  68. selected in the Job Setup dialog. Added protective code to defend against a
  69. Director bug that returns a text size of 0 from text fields. Fixed a bug that
  70. caused append to lock up in cases when a series of different-styled carriage
  71. returns spanned a page break.

  73. 1.5.5 Internal architecture was substantially re-written to bring the code up to
  74. date for Director 6 and Authorware 4;  PrintOMatic Lite now provides limited
  75. functionality in Authorware 4 as well as Director. Fixed a Windows bug that
  76. caused true-color bitmaps to ╥wrap╙ by 16 pixels. Cleaned up Windows print
  77. dialog code that fixes some printing anomalies (will likely stop printing leaks)
  78. in Windows 95. Changed the installation directory for the product: now ALL
  79. PrintOMatic Lite files are placed into a sub-folder of Director's "Xtras"
  80. folder: "PrintOMatic Lite Xtra" on the Mac, and "PMLITE" on Windows. Updated the
  81. help launcher code to be compatible with both Director 5 and Director 6 Help
  82. applications. Updated code to prevent drawing of PICT cast members on Windows
  83. (because Director crashes).

  85. 1.5.6 Fixed a Windows bug that caused periodic freezing when using append to add 
  86. pictures to frames.

  88. 1.5.7 Added brand-new printStage routine. Added brand-new registration code 
  89. that allows users to enter a serial number from the Xtras menu to register the 
  90. Xtra. Fixed a bug that caused some calls to the global print command to crash.

  92. 1.5.8 Recompiled to fix recurring -1 errors in 32-bit Windows and
  93. other anomalies.

  95. 1.5.9 Made the Xtra "Safe for Shockwave" to enable use in Shockwave 7.

  97. 1.6 Added support for printing Director 7 Text members directly. Modified
  98. stage-grabbing code for better 16-bit display compatibility.

  100. 1.6.1 Fixed a Windows drawStagePicture bug that caused the stage image to "wrap"
  101. in 16-bit color depth. Fixed a Windows bug that sometimes caused text characters 
  102. to be dropped at the beginning of pages. Changed instantiation code to allow
  103. for better error trapping when no printer is installed.

  106. Stage in 16-bit color.
